04Buying guide
Get these right and your slider will run smoothly for years
Decide which side slides
Put the fixed panel where furniture will stand, and the opening panel where people actually walk through.
Ask about rollers and track
Stainless or sealed-bearing rollers on a clean, level track are what make a slider glide. We specify them on every quote.
Lock and anti-lift
A hook lock with anti-lift blocks stops the panel being lifted off its track. Add a sliding security gate for extra protection.
Glass for heat and glare
West-facing sliders get hot. Grey or bronze tint, or low-E glass, keeps rooms cooler without curtains drawn all day.

10FAQs
Sliding Glass Doors FAQs
Straight answers to what Kempton Park and Johannesburg customers ask us most.
How much does a sliding glass door cost in Kempton Park?
Felix Glass sliding doors start from R7,950 for a 2-panel door up to 1.8 m, R10,900 for a 3-panel stacking door, R13,500 for a 4-panel door and R16,500 for a heavy-duty slider. Removing and replacing an old door adds from R1,950.
My sliding door sticks. Should I repair or replace it?
If the frame is straight and the problem is worn rollers or a dirty track, a roller replacement and service may be enough. If the frame is bent, rusted or leaking, a new aluminium slider is usually better value. Send us a photo and we will tell you which.
Are aluminium sliding doors secure?
They are when fitted with a proper hook lock and anti-lift blocks. For ground-floor sliders we recommend laminated glass or a sliding security gate on the inside.
Can a sliding door be fitted into my existing opening?
Yes. We make every door to measure, so it fits the opening you have. Changing the size of the opening is also possible.
Can I get double glazing in a sliding door?
Yes. Most of our sliding door ranges can take double-glazed units, which help with noise from OR Tambo flight paths and with heat loss in winter.
How long does a new sliding door take?
About 10 to 15 working days from measure and deposit, and installation is usually done in a single day.
Which areas do you cover for sliding glass doors?
Felix Glass is based at 14 Firefly St, Rhodesfield, Kempton Park, 1619, next to the Rhodesfield Gautrain station. We are open Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00 and Saturday 08:00–15:00; call 063 119 1651 to confirm your suburb.
