What to know before cutting into your roof
Overhead glass must be laminated
SANS 10400-N calls for safety glass overhead. Laminated glass stays in place if it cracks, so nothing falls into the room.
Control the heat
A north or west-facing skylight can overheat a room. Grey-tinted or low-E laminated glass cuts the heat and glare.
Roof type and pitch
Tiled, IBR, corrugated and concrete roofs each need a different flashing. We confirm this on the site visit.
Finishing the light shaft
The shaft between roof and ceiling is boarded and painted. We tell you upfront what is included in the quote.
